 This position will work under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Aviation. Responsibilities will include a combination of office and field work with a focus on the 2018 Airshow. The intern will assist the staff with administrative, marketing and planning tasks. The position will include work such as coordination with Airshow partners, solicitation of additional Airshow partners, marketing, operations and coordination leading up to the Airshow. May also include computer work, filing, assisting with Airshow traffic patterns inventory, design work, and social media utilization. Will also be relied upon to assist with Airshow duties, deliveries, and planning.

 No prior experience. Person should have an interest in event planning, aviation and event marketing.

The Broome County Clerk's Office is looking for a graduate level student intern. Tis will be a research heavy internship with focuses on policy and financial analysis, strategic planning, and grant writing for a local government office. This position will work under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Engineering (and other engineering staff members). Position responsibilities will include a combination of office and field work and may include work such as compliance inspection for the County’s MS4 program, assistance with traffic counting data collection, infrastructure inventory using GPS equipment, pavement management data collection, and assistance with filing, digitization and preservation of existing historical design documents. Depending on level of education and experience, additional work may include review of and assistance with construction paperwork, hydraulic analysis of culverts and/or culvert inspection, and work in AutoCAD.
 37.5 hours a week

Students currently enrolled in civil engineering programs that are competent with Mircosoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.) are encouraged to apply. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Lead Poisoning Prevention Program Intern
Assists Lead Risk Assessors with visual assessments, dust sampling, XRF inspection of housing units. This will include drawing floor plans, taking notes and photographs. Assists staff with other program educational activities and events as needed. Assists in writing reports and maintenance of records of lead hazard remediation progress. Interacts with owners and tenants of housing units. Special projects based on the goals of the program and internship are considered.

This internship is supervised jointly by Caregiver Services and Information and Assistance (I&A), units within the Broome County Office for Aging.
Unlike many health and human service-related internships, which may emphasize clerical duties, this program offers students extensive opportunities for direct client interaction.Besides writing articles and updating or creating brochures, the intern may be able to participate in assessing clients’ needs in the community setting, and in helping clients to navigate available resources by collaborating with various health and social service professionals within this highly multidisciplinary department.
The position is flexible in terms of overall length and weekly time commitment. Applicants should be comfortable with self-directed work, enjoy working with seniors, and be enthusiastic about addressing the challenges of eldercare in our aging society.

OFA Report Writer Intern
The intern will have access to the Harmony Technical Support Staff for help in creating reports. Training materials will be available.
 
The Intern will work with managers to determine both the data needed and the format; analyzes data collected during the provision of services to seniors in Broome County. The software is new to the agency and no one in the agency is proficient in SQL. May also assist in training staff.
